Flooring installation

Flooring installation is a job for the pros

The complexity of flooring installation and the amount of time it takes to complete a job depend upon several factors. Installation is less time-consuming if new flooring can be placed over existing flooring. Some materials are designed for more than one installation method, and the level of difficulty for each one varies. Further, installers may need to repair the subfloor if it is damaged. Roman Floors & Remodeling is a flooring company in Redford Charter Township, MI, that offers installation services. We can satisfy all of your flooring needs.

Vinyl & carpet

Some luxury vinyl planks and tiles can be glued to the subfloor like most sheet vinyl. Other brands are designed for floating floor installation. These planks and tiles click and lock together, so they don't need to be attached to the subfloor. Padding is always placed under this flooring. Loose lay vinyl flooring, which butts together, uses friction to grip the floor.

Wall-to-wall carpeting is pulled across a room with a carpet stretcher. Padding must be installed under the carpet, or it will quickly become worn. Carpet tiles, or carpet squares, are an excellent alternative to wall-to-wall carpeting or area rugs. The tiles can be installed on top of plywood, concrete, or particleboard. Peel and stick and glue-down brands are available.

Tile & hardwood

Clay-based ceramic and porcelain tile is attached to a backer board with mortar, and then the tiles are joined together with grout. Mortar and grout often take two or three days to dry. Sometimes, the grout needs to be sealed. Also, tiles can be challenging to cut. While ceramic tile is cut with standard tools, more brittle porcelain must be cut with a wet saw.

Solid hardwood can be finished in the home or the factory. Both types of planks are nailed to a wood subfloor. Unfinished planks must be sanded, stained, and sealed, which takes about one week. It takes another week for the floor to acclimate to its new surroundings. An engineered wood floor, which has a surface layer of hardwood, floats over the subfloor.
